BLM Wild Horse & Burro Program – Request for Information

Sharing is caring!

If you are reading this blog post, you have probably heard the BLM Wild Horse & Burro program is requesting information from external parties about how to get more horse and burros adopted. The deadline to submit responses is September 27th. I would encourage ANY person or company who thinks that they have something to contribute to submit a proposal. It may not be accepted and, because this is just a request for information, this may not even ever move forward into the process where individuals can apply for it. Don’t let this discourage you. If you don’t submit YOUR idea, there is no way YOUR idea can be selected.

What I think is important is that if you have any desire to share your ideas for increasing the program that you take the time to submit this information request. Over the next week I am going to submit the required paperwork for this BLM Information Request. I would encourage EVERYONE who is interested to do the same. Feel free to follow along. It does take time but it isn’t as complicated as you may think.

Disclaimer: I do not work for the BLM. The information in this article has not been reviewed by or approved by the BLM.

In case you didn’t see the post, here it is:

Step 1: Find the Project

The link in the BLM original post works fine but here is a direct link for you: http://bit.ly/2COEyKV

You can search by a variety of fields including title or reference number. Using the reference number above takes you straight into the opportunity but, if you are adventurous, like me, type in “Horse” and see what else pops up. It really is interesting!

OK Don’t go down the rabbit hole too far…lets go ahead and open up this specific agreement.

Step 2: Explore the Details for the Opportunity

When you open the agreement you are shown some basic information as well as a “What do I do now?” section. I f you click “Register Now” it is going to want a DUNS number. If you have one, great…proceed on through. If you don’t that is OK. I reached out to the contact for this opportunity, Lamont Saywer, personally via phone. Lamont was the nicest guy! He confirmed that an individual can submit information for this opportunity. All you need to do is email him! He even clarified that there are no specific procedures / formats to follow!

Step 3: Download Related Documents & Start Filing it Out!

On the right hand side is the documentation for the project. They all have a variety of different information for reference for the project. The primary document is the Request for Information. This downloads as a Word .doc but you can open it in Google Docs as well.

There are 10 questions the BLM is asking for information on. Take the next 10 days and completely answer just that one question. Do this every day for 10 days. Once all of the questions have been answered take a day or two to review them, check spelling and grammar, and do any last minute refinement. There are no format requirements, no guidelines to follow. Just 10 questions to answer!

You’re getting closer to the deadline now so there are less than 10 days left. YOU can still do it! Download the docs, fill out your answers to the 10 questions and send it in. This isn’t a formal proposal. It doesn’t have to be fancy / perfect!

Step 4: Send it in!

Email your completed document to Lamont. Be sure it has your contact information on the document as well as in your email so he can reach you if he has any questions. Ask him to confirm receipt. Emails can get lost, go to junk etc. Once you have your confirmation you are done!

The process really is easy and I hope YOU submit your idea’s to the BLM. If you want to help get horses adopted BLM has given everybody the opportunity to participate in finding solutions!

CHALLENGE!

I’d love to see BLM report that they got over 100 submissions for this request for information. I challenge YOU to share this post, let others know you are planning to submit and encourage others to submit their ideas as well. If you could use the #adoptamustang and tag me in the post that would be awesome!
